What was life like before you started the crystal business?

Well, like most people, it was not a very flashy early beginning. I was an exhausted, going-through-the-motions student who graduated from the University of California Riverside with a major in Economics. Afterward, I was fortunate to find work as a receptionist in a law firm. I spent seven years (too long) there until I was finally able to have an idea of what my next step would be. I juggled both the crystal business and my job at the same time until I was able to have a hint of a stable foundation. I have to say, even though there is so much to do as a small business owner, it beats the small cubicle and four-hour traffic to the center of Los Angeles.

When did you decide that selling crystals was your hobby?

I found out when I developed an addiction to buying and collecting crystals. I used to make resin earrings which was fun at first, but it didn’t seem to be something I was too passionate about. But just collecting crystals wasn’t enough, I started to look into anime crystals since I’m such a huge (but quiet) fan of anime. If you haven’t noticed.

How did you go about designing?

Honestly, I never thought I was the creative type. I never thought I was any good at painting and drawing and art in general. I went through so much trial-and-error learning digital art and blender, it was insane. But I came out to the other side thinking I was getting better and better. My biggest achievement would be my custom anime devil fruit crystals from the popular anime One Piece. They take so long to design but it is so worth it to see how they turn out when they're done!

Do you have a routine during the crystal designing process?

As much as I want to say I put on a chill playlist and calmly work throughout the day, it usually doesn’t come out that way. There are super tedious moments here and there I must deal with, but there are times when I have a show playing in the background while working on a design or packing orders. Either way, I love working in my cute aesthetic pink mini-office!

What is the concept behind your creativity?

I wanted to do something different, mainly to spark my creativity as much as I could. I use my surroundings and things that I enjoy in general as inspiration for my anime crystals and coasters. My newfound path in art has given me the confidence to dabble in cute stationery, stickers, and maybe more art mediums down the line. I am very selective with what I design and how I create them. I consider what my community might like, we have so much in common!
